Advancing God's Kingdom in Union County Ohio |

| Who is “Men United in Christ”? | |||||
| Home | |||||
| Who We Are | We are a brotherhood of Christian men intent on building God-centered relationships that reach beyond our own church walls. We believe God’s Kingdom is bigger than any one church and that confining our relationships within a single church body cripples our ability to accomplish the great things to which God calls us. | ||||

| Each of us actively participates in and values greatly our own church organization. But we realize the advantage of building relational bridges among all of the Christian churches in our community—banding together under the common call to lift up one another through fellowship and accountability, caring for those less fortunate than ourselves, witnessing to the unsaved, and standing united in a broken world increasingly hostile toward Christian values. | |||||
| Yes, there are doctrinal differences among us. But we’re not quibbling over minor differences in faith, we’re focusing instead on advancing God’s kingdom in Union County Ohio. After all—it’s not about us! It is about using our God-given resources and talents according to His good purpose—and giving Him and only Him the credit and glory. | |||||
| Who’s in Charge? | |||||
| Men United in Christ is in the formative stages. The original concept was born out of a spirit-led conviction among a small group of church-going Christian men in Union County. We’ve initiated this website and are actively inviting Christian men’s groups in the area to join—but we’re hardly in charge and have no desire to be. Our long-range vision is to establish a steering committee having balanced representation so that no single church or coalition of churches can dominate the organization. | |||||
| What
churches are involved? |
|||||
| Men representing 15 different churches have participated in MUiC outreach events as of the end of this summer We’re not identifying individual churches, as this would defeat the central theme of MUiC—it’s not about us or any particular church—only….... God’s…… Kingdom. | |||||
| How
are we advancing God's Kingdom? |
|||||
| Our emphasis is two-fold: | |||||
| 1. Building relationships among Christian men regardless of | |||||
|
church affiliation.
We are accomplishing this first by encouraging groups of 2-3 men to meet regularly at a convenient time and location. Meeting together for an hour or so a couple times a month helps build a bond of intimacy and accountability that is difficult to accomplish in larger group settings. We call these Iron Man Groups after Proverbs 27:17 “As iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another”. Group members are often from the same church, but the number of inter-church groups is expected to grow. |
|||||
| Second, we are planning informal gatherings of men from different churches for the sake of inter-church worship and fellowship. Our first meeting was a MEN’S COOKOUT Sunday, July 16. Over 40 men from a half dozen local churches came together for fellowship, good food and some great praise and worship. More outings and activities are in the planning stages. Check this site often for announcements of upcoming events. | |||||
|
Third, on a more grand scale, we envision a time when we will hold
locally men’s inter-church conferences where we
can worship corporately and gain inspiration from invited speakers. |

2.
Joining together for outreach and community service.
Foundational to MUiC is our heart for reaching the lost and serving the needy. In our own churches, men are ministering to the broken and spreading the Gospel message through a variety of creative means. But by banding together to increase ranks and attain higher community visibility, we can build the effectiveness of these missions. Case in point is the FREE car wash MUiC sponsored on June 17. Blessing so many people by washing nearly 100 cars in a 4-hour span would have been difficult for a volunteers from a single church. But bring together volunteers from six churches for the event and look out! |
|||||
| Our next outreach opportunity is the PowerSURGE Teen Expo, coming to the Union County Fairgrounds Sept. 30. This project is right up MUiC's alley--a community outreach event, sponsored by a cooperative of Union County Christian Churches, that needs a lot of adult volunteers (men and women) in order to be the huge success we are hoping for.
